Kao Shuo-heng and Chou Tzu-chi, who work in Xiayang Community in Haicang district of Xiamen, have been dedicated to ensuring safety in the community while sharing their knowledge and life-saving rescue methods learned in Taiwan. 

The two Taiwan youngsters, working as assistants to local community directors, were appointed by the fire squad at Haicang district as fire safety ambassadors on July 31. With the new title, they taught local children attending a summer camp arranged by the fire squad on how to protect themselves in earthquakes and other life-threatening situations. 

Chou's career began in 2016 when she came to Xiamen and took an active role in promoting safety measures to community residents to protect against disasters. Kao joined the Haicang Jihong Ocean Rescue Team looking to save lives. 

The summer camp was organized in an effort to spread information regarding fire safety. 

Members of the summer camp were also encouraged to help residents find hidden fire hazards in their homes. 

A 10-year-old boy who participated in the summer camp for the first time said that he learned a lot about fire-fighting and just how dangerous fire could be. He said he would pass what he learned onto his classmates and parents.
