Road, the theme song for the China Day special event -- which so impressed spectators at the 2019 Grand Prix of Nations & 4th European Choir Games in Gothenburg, Sweden on Aug 7 -- came from Xiamen and was composed by a local primary school music teacher, Xu Xin.

A tribute to China's Belt and Road Initiative that has om recent years gained greater momentum in an ever increasing slew of countries, the composer said his song was a melodious reflection of his aim to build a music bridge across the world and bring its peoples closer.

"I'm excited and proud as a work of mine, a primary school music teacher, would one day be staged on the international arena," said Xu, who was also in attendance at the event.

"I think the angelic voices of children, plus the pop style of chorus, are what China wants to show to the world, and that was my inspiration for the Road."
