The China International Fair for Investment & Trade (CIFIT) will hold the first trade fair for distinctive agricultural products from countries involved in the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), the organizing committee announced on Aug 25.

The fair will open in an 8,200-square-meter exhibition hall on the same day as CIFIT.

Five exhibition areas will be set up, showcasing the latest agricultural products and achievements of BRI countries and remote areas in China's Shaanxi province and Xinjiang Uygur and Ningxia Hui autonomous regions.

E-commerce and investment platforms facilitating the trade of agricultural products among BRI countries will also be highlighted at the fair. AliCloud, the cloud computing arm of China's e-commerce giant Alibaba, will invite a number of domestic e-commerce insiders to the event.

An investment and cooperation forum will be held on the sidelines. Representatives from over 20 countries will discuss how to strengthen economic ties between China and BRI countries and improve the purchasing, supply, marketing and investing of agricultural products.

The fair was organized by the All China Federation of Supply and Marketing Cooperatives.
