National lacquer painting exhibition to open in Xiamen

The 13th National Art Exhibition's lacquer painting section will open in Xiamen in East China's Fujian province on Sept 24, local media reported.

Some 1,850 works were received for possible selection in the lacquer painting exhibition. After evaluation work in Xiamen recently, 314 works were chosen for display in the exhibition.

According to a released list, 93 lacquer paintings were from Fujian, and more than half of those were created by Xiamen artists.

In terms of lacquer paintings, this year, the number of figure painting works increased, with the works showing expansion of concept, style and form, said a teacher from the Art College of Xiamen University.

Supported by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles, and the China Artists Association, the National Art Exhibition, held every five years, is the largest, most influential and authoritative national art exhibition in China.
