130 projects start construction in Xiamen

A total of 130 projects broke ground in different areas of Xiamen, eastern Fujian province, on Sept 5, local media reported.

The projects, with total investment of 44.55 billion yuan ($6.25 billion), cover a wide range, from public infrastructure to various industries.

In Siming district, work started on 12 projects including extension of schools and upgrading of old residential areas and municipal facilities. In Haicang district, construction started on 14 projects, mainly in healthcare and worth 5.37 billion yuan.

The concentrated construction work will promote Xiamen's industrial transformation and upgrading, improve urban public infrastructure, education quality, medical care and other lifestyle-related areas, according to a government official.

The official also said that the projects are the initial embodiment of Xiamen's investment promotion achievements this year.
