The Xiamen delegation signed 56 projects worth 86.19 billion yuan ($12.11 billion) at the China International Fair for Investment & Trade (CIFIT) in Xiamen, Fujian province, on Sept 8.

The number of projects and investment amounts are both record highs, reflecting Xiamen's robust business environment.

The newly inked projects, including 20 foreign-invested ones worth $2.17 billion, focus on headquarters economy, clean energy and materials, biomedicine and healthcare, software and information services, modern logistics, cultural creativity, and film and television production.

Beijing-based AI service provider Unisound will invest one billion yuan to build an incubation park for tech startups which will serve as a pilot zone for new generation AI technologies.

Sequoia Capital China are investing 12 billion yuan to establish a foundation in Xiamen which will lend support to the fashion industry through capital and supply chain technologies.

French lens producer Essilor Group is planning to set up a regional headquarters for its sunglasses business, with a total investment of $15 million.

"The city's efforts in improving the business environment have paid off," said Huang Heming, director of Xiamen's commerce bureau, "we will try our best to help these enterprises and create a prosperous future for all of us."
