The 15th Cross-Straits Book Fair -- opening in Xiamen in Fujian province on Sept 20 -- will display 700,000 books from both sides of the Taiwan Straits.

The total exhibition area of this year's book fair covers 34,500 square meters, including the main exhibition hall at Xiamen International Conference & Exhibition Center, covering 13,500 sq m, which is 70 percent larger than the 13th book fair held in Xiamen in 2017.

More than 520 publishers have confirmed participation in the exhibition, including about 300 publishing houses from the Chinese mainland and 220 from Taiwan.

Organizers said the participants will further expand and deepen the cross-Straits book trade, copyright trading and business and boost cross-Straits cultural exchanges.

The past 14 editions of the fair, which have been held alternately in Xiamen and Taiwan since 2005, have to date displayed a total of more than 9 million books and generated deals worth around 460 million yuan ($64.39 million).

Organizers say that a total of 2,360 commercial agreements have been signed during previous book fairs.

The 2019 event is being staged on Sept 20-22.
