Global index provider S&P Dow Jones Indices announced recently that it would add 1,099 China A-shares into the S&P Emerging Broad Market Index (BMI), one of its investment benchmarks used by global money managers, Sept 23.

About 13 A-share listed companies in Xiamen were on the list, and are therefore expected to attract sustained attention from long-term foreign funds.

The profits of the 13 listed companies reached 5.38 billion yuan ($758 million) in the first half of 2019, accounting for more than 70 percent of the profits of all Xiamen listed companies.

Once the inclusion takes effect on Sept 23 as scheduled, A-shares are projected to represent a weight of 6.2 percent on the index.
