Chinese tech giant Huawei Technologies and the Xiamen government signed an agreement on developing the company's cutting-edge Kunpeng computing system on July 28.

The project was officially launched on Sept 26.

According to the agreement, Xiamen and Huawei will help 200 local enterprises to adopt the Kunpeng computing system.

In addition, Huawei will continue to invest in Xiamen to build a world-leading Kunpeng ecological circle, helping Xiamen's companies accelerate their independent innovation.

As the first city in China to have access to Huawei's Kunpeng computing ecosystem, Xiamen is expected to build a leading autonomous and controllable software service cluster in China.

Officials said Xiamen attaches great importance to the development of its cloud computing industry.

Last year, the city's software and information technology services earned 149.32 billion yuan ($20.93 billion), an increase of 16.38 percent year-on-year.

According to Hong Fangming, president of Huawei Cloud China, with the arrival of 5G, cloud transformation will enter a new stage. New technologies such as artificial intelligence will accelerate industry innovation, he said.

Hong added that "Cloud+5G+AI" will become the core engine of the company's digital transformation.
