Xiamen University Malaysia (XMUM) hosted its first graduation ceremony for 371 new graduates, including 242 Malaysian students, on Sept 28.

Xiamen University Malaysia (XMUM) is the first branch campus to be opened by a Chinese university. The school aimed to create a multicultural and international community with world-class teaching and scientific research capabilities. XMUM is expected to further promote cooperation and exchange in education between China and Malaysia and produce more high-quality talents with international competitiveness.

At the Malaysia campus, there are more than 5,000 students from 28 countries and regions. The school offers students 16 undergraduate programs and two master's programs.

The Chinese Ambassador to Malaysia, Bai Tian, and the Malaysian government's special envoy to China, YB Tan Kok Wai, took part in the ceremony. Tan Kok Wai said that XMUM will make great contributions to the development of countries and regions involved in the Belt and Road Initiative.
