China-Europe/Asia trains departing from Xiamen, East China's Fujian province, have delivered 10.8 billion yuan ($1.53 billion) worth of cargo in their 563 journeys as of Sept 30, according to local media reports on Oct 2.

The first Xiamen-Europe/Asia trains departed on Aug 16, 2015 headed for Hamburg, Germany and Almaty, Kazakhstan, taking 16 and 10 days respectively.

According to Chen Luchao, who is responsible for Xiamen's international trains, after four years of operation, the Xiamen-Europe train has passed through 12 countries and more closely connected ocean and rail transport.

Since late 2018, containers delivered by sea can be transported as a whole from Xiamen Port to European countries by rail, reducing the stopover in the city from three or four days to just one day.

In addition, Xiamen also opened intelligent trade routes with 25 ports in 10 European countries, allowing for the monitoring of containers throughout the entire transportation process.

Chen said that the quality indexes of the Xiamen-Europe train surpass those of other China-Europe trains in the country.

The Xiamen-Europe train has completed 397 trips carrying 14,487 containers and 9.07 billion yuan worth of cargo to date.

The Xiamen-Asia train has also seen rapid development and now operates once a week.

The goods it delivers have went from low-end stones to high-value auto parts, excavators and plastic grains and the train has completed 105 journeys carrying 3,815 containers with 1.3 billion yuan worth of cargo to date.
