The 2019 World Ocean Week (WOW) will be held in Xiamen, East China's Fujian province, from Nov 1-7.

The slogan for this year's event, which has been held every November in Xiamen since 2006, is "Building a blue partnership of oceans for a shared future". It is expected to be attended by about 500 government officials, experts, scholars, and representatives from large enterprises and international institutions from 40 countries and regions involved in the Belt and Road Initiative.

Four themed exhibitions on salvage operations, the commercialization of marine scientific and technological achievements, and recreational fisheries and aquariums will be held in addition to eight marine industrial match-making meetings. Sixteen projects with a total of nearly 1 billion yuan ($140.92 million) in investment are expected to be signed at the event.

A variety of events such as beach games, kite festivals, and yacht races will also be held to liven things up and make it a truly unforgettable experience.
