Exhibitors from East China's Fujian province have expressed eagerness for the upcoming China International Import Expo (CIIE) and are registering in record high numbers, Fujian Daily reported on Oct 25.

The event, now in its second year, has received applications from 5,959 Fujian businesspeople, among which 4,157 are buyers. The delegation from Xiamen, a coastal city in Fujian province, consists of 1,928 businesspeople, 1,548 of which are buyers.

In order to deepen economic and trade cooperation, stimulate sales of local products, and attract investment, Fujian exhibitors will put on a series of matchmaking activities showcasing the province's latest preferential policies and medical apparatus and healthcare industry, as well as Xiamen's high-end equipment and intelligent manufacturing industry.

The exhibitors will also introduce guests to several elements of Fujian culture, including Nanyin music, breast clapping dance, operas, shadow play, Dahongpao tea, and red rice wine.

The second CIIE, which will take place in Shanghai from Nov 5 to 10, is hosted by the Ministry of Commerce and Shanghai municipal government. The event aims to support trade liberalization and economic globalization by opening the Chinese market to the world and helping countries and regions from around the world to strengthen economic cooperation and trade.
