As night fell on the ancient Philae Temple in Aswan Province, Egypt on Oct 27, a folk dance troupe from Xiamen, East China named Little Egret, put on a distinctive dance show to open the fourth Afro-Chinese Arts and Folklore Festival.

The 21-member troupe offered African spectators a unique glimpse into Chinese culture by integrating dance elements from Chinese ethnic minorities including Tibetan, Yi, Dai, Mongolian and Uygur.

The annual event will last until Oct 31. The opening show included troupes from Uganda, Sudan, Namibia, Algeria, Tunisia, and South Africa.
