Zhuhai's Xiangzhou district will work with a subsidiary of Baidu and the Gree Group to jointly build the Zhuhai Artificial Intelligence Industrial Base, according to an agreement signed on Aug 15. 

As Baidu's first industrial project in Zhuhai, it will focus on construction and operations in artificial intelligence or AI, the metaverse and the application of AI intellectual property rights. 

The goal will be for it to promote the industrial application of Baidu's open platform for AI - PaddlePaddle. It will also aim to promote its new-generation large language model and generative AI product - called ERNIE Bot - while creating a benchmark demonstration base for AI applications and help drive Zhuhai's industrial transformation going forwards.

In the future, the expectation is that Baidu AI Cloud will work with various parties to rely on the Zhuhai Artificial Intelligence Industrial Base and promote the establishment of a metaverse industry center and an IPR operation center in Zhuhai. 

Moreover, information projects - such as AI talent training, smart cities and intelligent manufacturing - will be carried out. They'll aim to construct an ecosystem for the upstream and downstream areas of the AI industry.
