Final preparations are being made for the 31st Macao International Fireworks Display Contest, which will take place in mid-September - with the eager residents of South China's Macao and Zhuhai once again able to take in the visual extravaganza after a three-year hiatus.
The event will be held over an area of sea opposite the Macao Tower, where fireworks teams from different countries and regions will compete in the night sky.
The Macao International Fireworks Display Contest, organized by the Macao Government Tourism Office, debuted in 1989 with only five participating teams.
Over the years, it has become a significant international event in Macao and has gained recognition worldwide. With a history spanning over 30 years, the contest is held annually. However, it was suspended for the last three years due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The official website of the Macao Government Tourism Office shows that this year's fireworks contest will consist of five shows, each divided into two sessions.
People can enjoy the stunning fireworks on Sept 9, 16, 23 and Oct 1 and 7 at 9 pm and 9:40 pm.
For those who want to view the fireworks from Zhuhai, recommended locations include the Zhuhai International Convention & Exhibition Center, Hengqin Financial Island, Jialin Mountain and Hengqin Bridge.
