The Xiangshan Rowing Regatta (Qianshan River) was held for the first time in Zhuhai's Xiangzhou district on Oct 25.

Rowing, one of the oldest Olympic events in history, is widely popular among prestigious schools worldwide.

The event brought together 20 high-level rowing teams from 15 prestigious schools from both home and abroad, including Tsinghua University, Peking University, Tongji University, Xi'an Jiaotong University, Yale University, Hong Kong Baptist University, and University of Macao.

The competing teams started at the Qianshan Bridge and finished near the Changsheng Bridge. This route was specifically chosen so that the rowers could enjoy Xiangzhou's beautiful scenery as they competed.

It is expected that the event would serve as a platform for sports and cultural exchanges while also contributing to the gathering of high-level talents in Zhuhai.

In addition, the event was set to showcase the integrated development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and help transform the Qianshan River area into a world-class waterfront activity zone.
