The 2023 "Lakewood Hills" Kitefoil World Series Final was held at the Meili Bay beach in Xiangzhou district, Zhuhai, on Nov 30.

This was the first time that Zhuhai has hosted an international kitefoil competition. The event attracted about 50 participants, including top athletes from around the world.

Participants earned world ranking points throughout the competition, and the competitor with the highest score was awarded the world champion title.

"Zhuhai is a very beautiful and fashionable city. The city's water environment is good, and the competition facilities are very advanced," said Denis Taradin, a participating athlete.

Kitefoil is an emerging water sport that has rapidly gained popularity worldwide due to its proximity to the shore, high visual appeal, and easy-to-understand rules. This year, the sport even debuted as an official event of the Hangzhou Asian Games.

In the future, Zhuhai aims to become internationally renowned for its comprehensive water sports, sailboat, and leisure sectors.
