The ninth Zhuhai Kite Festival took place on Xianglu Bay Beach in Zhuhai's Xiangzhou district on Dec 16. 

Renowned kite teams from Hong Kong, Macao, Guangzhou, Foshan, Shenzhen, Jiangmen, and Zhuhai participated in the kite flying performances. The event also invited nearly 500 Zhuhai residents and kite enthusiasts to join in and experience the joy of flying large kites.

Xianglu Bay Beach is one of the rare urban locations in the country that can facilitate large-scale kite flying activities. It has hosted major provincial events such as the Guangdong Kite Championship and the Zhuhai Kite Festival multiple times. Located in the city center of Zhuhai, it is also a popular tourist attraction with a large influx of visitors.

In recent years, in an effort to transform Zhuhai into a "city of youth and vitality", the Zhuhai Kite Association has organized the festival with guidance and support from the Zhuhai municipal bureau of culture, radio, television, tourism and sports, as well as the Zhuhai Sports Federation.
