Renowned calligraphers from Zhuhai and Macao were invited to the Gongbei market of Xiangzhou district, Zhuhai, to celebrate the upcoming Chinese New Year, on Feb 3 by presenting live calligraphy demonstrations and spreading blessings to locals and tourists.

The event attracted the attention of numerous people who wanted to customize their spring couplets.

A resident surnamed He expressed her admiration for the beautiful calligraphy, eagerly waiting to buy a hand-written spring couplet. A visitor surnamed Zhang customized several "Fu" (meaning fortune) characters, intending to affix them to doors at home.

Huang Dehua, vice chairman of the Zhuhai Association for Young Calligraphers, hoped to bring good Chinese New Year wishes to the public through handwritten spring couplets.

Apart from the spring couplet ceremony, the Chinese New Year fairs will feature a display of exemplary calligraphic masterpieces originating from Zhuhai and Macao. These events aim to highlight and promote Chinese New Year handicrafts, specialties, and agricultural products specifically from Macao.
