The Beishan International Tea Culture Festival was held at the Yang Great Ancestral Hall in Beishan village within Nanping town on May 19.
With a storied history of nearly two centuries, Beishan village once thrived as a hub of tea commerce through its vibrant tea market on Mantang Street, where locals traded in this cherished commodity. Today, the village sustains this legacy with over 15 merchants continuing the tradition, offering not only traditional Chaozhou Kongfu Tea but also innovative tea beverages tailored to appeal to younger demographics.
The festival serves as more than a mere celebration of tea; it acts as a catalyst for the advancement of the tea economy, a commemoration of cultural heritage, and a bridge for connecting local traditions with global practices. By hosting such an event, Beishan village not only honors its rich tea heritage but also paves the way for enhanced collaboration between different regions, promoting the exchange of ideas and advancements in the tea industry.
On May 13, Zhuhai government and Zunyi government sealed a strategic cooperation agreement to establish a national new tea beverage supply chain center. In alignment with this initiative and to deepen cooperation between Guangdong and Guizhou, Beishan showcased its local tea products at the festival. This aims to further synergize the tea industries of both regions, capitalizing their respective strengths and promoting innovation in the industry.
