The 2024 South China Book Festival's Zhuhai venue and Zhuhai Reading Month is set to commence on Aug 17.
This edition of the South China Book Festival will be held at the Zhuhai International Convention and Exhibition Center, featuring a main exhibition area spanning 5,000 square meters.
It will include eight main exhibition areas, including a "most beautiful bookstore" area, a cultural tourism area, and a themed block titled "Celebrating the 25th Anniversary of Macao's Return to the Motherland".
Furthermore, various districts across the city, including the Hengqin Guangdong-Macao Deep Cooperation Zone, will set up dedicated zones to showcase intangible cultural heritage items, cultural and creative products, and Zhuhai souvenirs, providing visitors with a diverse and enriching experience.
The main venue will invite over 10 distinguished and emerging figures, including Zhu Yong, director of the Palace Museum Cultural Research Institute, Bai Cha, a comic artist, Chen Nianxi, a contemporary poet, and Zhang Tengyue, a renowned host.
During the festival, the Zhuhai International Convention and Exhibition Center will also host an event, fostering reading exchanges among Zhuhai, Hong Kong, and Macao, with Hong Kong and Macao authors invited to participate in Zhuhai.
Various public reading spaces such as libraries, physical bookstores and rural reading rooms will serve as sub-venues. Additionally, Zhuhai Reading Month will run from Aug 17 to Sept 16, featuring numerous community reading activities.
Throughout the festival, both the main venue and sub-venues will offer a 20-percent discount on book purchases.
