On Sep 13, the Guangdong Cultural Tourism Promotion Conference was held in Guangzhou. At the event, Beishan village in the Xiangzhou district of Zhuhai was selected as an excellent example of promoting consumption through cultural tourism. It is the only selected village in Zhuhai.
The selection means that Beishan village not only brings new energy to the local economy but also provides practical experience as an outstanding example, such as improving consumption conditions, creating a new scenario for consumption, helping to construct a high-level cultural province, and high-quality tourism.
Beishan village is a famous cultural village with over 780 years of history and 108 ancient constructions. The village recently devoted itself to extracting its historical culture and combining the ancient constructions and the culture, making it attract global tourists and become an international village.
Since 2007, Beishan village has developed according to “natural growth, organic update, arts leading, and public participation.” The ancient buildings are accompanied by the creative industry, which has motivated Beishan to become a unique commercial community.
Until now, the internet-famous stores in Beishan have reached over 220, including 20 stores in Hong Kong and Macao. Tourists from all over the world gather here to attend international food festivals, international music festivals, and so on. Based on the statistics, the daily peak visitor flow of Beishan village is over 20,000, with an annual visitor volume exceeding 5 million. About 30 percent of tourists are from Hong Kong and Macao, and 80 percent are young.
In the future, Beishan village is poised to accelerate the protective development of its historical and cultural streets and strengthen its integration with the development of commercial phrases. It is set to promote the creative transformation and innovative development of Chinese traditional culture, making itself a wonderful place for living and traveling and an excellent model for cultural tourism consumption in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
