A delegation led by Zhang Zhili, vice-governor of Southwest China's Yunnan province, visited Yunnan University (YNU) in the provincial capital Kunming to survey its COVID-19 pandemic prevention and control measures and laboratory safety management on Feb 7. The visit was also intended as a chance for the vice-governor to meet with students who stayed at the campus over the Spring Festival holiday.

The official delegation visited YNU's north gate, security center, student apartments, the School of Life Sciences' labs, the botany resource institute, the school hospital and other areas. The goal was to learn more about the student education management service during the winter vacation, the plans for the spring semester, and the stock of pandemic prevention materials.

Zhang said that the university should understand the severity and complexity of the current pandemic prevention and control situation, and scientifically and accurately implement prevention measures to ensure safety, stability and regular order.

When visiting the students who stayed at school during the holiday, Zhang asked about their current life and learning conditions, thanked them for staying put and offered his Spring Festival blessings.
