Zhengzhou to accelerate development into an international consumption center city

In the press conference held on Sep 18, 2024 at the CPC Henan Provincial Committee's Publicity Department, Ma Zhifeng, deputy mayor of Zhengzhou, presented Zhengzhou's strategic measures to cultivate new consumption scenes and enhance its internationalization.

In recent years, Zhengzhou has focused on upgrading five major consumption scenes, including high-end commercial complexes, distinctive commercial districts, upscale hotels, convention and exhibition economy, and cultural tourism and creative brands. The city is quickly evolving into an international consumption center city with unique characteristics and modern allure.

Efforts include expanding and improving commercial complexes, revitalizing traditional core business districts like Erqi and Huayuan Road, nurturing internationalized commercial districts, and developing distinctive commercial districts in five urban sub-centers. Notable projects such as Dennis David, Zhenghong City, and Shanshan Outlets have achieved significant sales figures, establishing the city with a leading commercial presence nationwide.

Furthermore, Zhengzhou is actively developing cultural tourism and creative brands with initiatives such as the Unique Henan theme park and the Haichang Ocean Park that have been successfully launched, contributing to the city's tourism development.

The city has made significant efforts in the hotel and convention sector, including the introduction of renowned international brands such as JW Marriott, Sheraton, Hilton. Zhengzhou is also focusing on high-quality hotel develoment as well as accelerating the construction of convention and exhibition venues and cultural tourism projects.

Zhengzhou is committed to elevating its profile internationally by hosting prestigious international conferences and establishing international cooperation centers.

The city's strategic initiatives aim to improve its new consumption scenes, including the development of high-end commercial complexes, distinctive commercial streets, and innovative consumption models, positioning Zhengzhou as a leading international consumption center city.
