Zhengzhou sees a rapid rise in new energy vehicle industry

In recent years, Zhengzhou has prioritized the establishment of the largest national base for new energy vehicles and components, while also optimizing the industrial and innovative chains to foster a specialized automotive industry cluster. On Apr 6, 2023, the inauguration ceremony for the BYD project was held in the Zhengzhou Airport Economy Zone.
The new energy vehicle industry chain, with its length, high technological standards, and vast market potential, is a strategic emerging industry in Henan. BYD, a leading automaker in the industry, serves as a proud national brand and a shining example of high-quality manufacturing in China.
The start of the BYD project is a significant milestone in Henan's industrial development history. Since its signing in 2021, with close collaboration and mutual support, the project broke ground within 37 days and began production within 17 months, demonstrating the rapid pace of new energy vehicle manufacturing in Henan and providing a strong impetus for the high-quality development of manufacturing in Henan.
The automotive industry in Zhengzhou is primarily concentrated in five areas including the Economic and Technological Development Zone, Zhongmu county, Guancheng district, Xingyang city, and the Zhengzhou Airport Economy Zone.
According to the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers, China's sales of NEVs increased to 6.89 million units, up from 75,000 units in 2014.
In recent years, Zhengzhou has witnessed a rapid increase in the number of motor vehicles, particularly NEVs. To further stimulate consumption, the city has launched various consumer promotion activities, such as the distribution of automotive consumption vouchers.
With supportive policies and rising consumer enthusiasm, the future of NEVs in Zhengzhou appears promising, with numerous growth opportunities.
