The seventh National Vocational Skills Competition for Disabled People and the exhibition of works made by people with disability was held in Jinan, Shandong province, from June 27 to 29.
Chinese Premier Li Qiang, also a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, made important instructions on improving the vocational skills of people with disability and promoting their employment and entrepreneurship. State Councilor Shen Yiqin attended the opening ceremony and announced the opening of the competition.
The competition has 28 events across five categories, including information and communication technology, arts and crafts, handicrafts, industry and advanced manufacturing, and life services. A total of 950 disabled contestants from across the country participated in the competition, with 56 individuals awarded the title of "National Technical Expert" during the event.
At the 10th International Abylimpics held in March 2023, the Chinese delegation achieved outstanding results with 29 disabled athletes winning six gold medals, seven silver medals, and seven bronze medals.
