The China Disabled Persons' Federation(CDPF) held a publicity event for 2025 World Mental Health Day in Beijing on Oct 10. Hu Xiangyang, vice-chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of the CDPF, attended the event.
Hu called on disabled persons' federations at all levels to step up their efforts to promote mental health awareness and education, boost public awareness of mental well-being and the prevention of mental disabilities.
The rights of people with mental disabilities should be safeguarded, he said, adding that the values of “equality, integration and sharing” should be upheld so as to create a favorable social atmosphere for people to understand, respect, care for and assist them.
During the event, individuals recovering from mental disorders showcased their skills in traditional Chinese button knot making, dessert making and painting and shared their rehabilitation stories and experiences. Experts also gave lectures on mental health knowledge.
Participants watched Blossoms in Hexi Lane – a psychological musical about the community-based rehabilitation of people with mental disorders that was produced under the guidance of the Suzhou Disabled Persons' Federation.
