Chinese representative Wang Jie, deputy director of the Ningxia Rehabilitation Center for the Disabled and vice-president of the China Massage Association of Blind Practitioner, was recently elevated to a higher position.
He was unanimously elected chairman of the 18th World Blind Union - Asia Pacific (WBUAP) Regional Massage Commission at the 17th WBUAP Regional Massage Seminar held in Seoul, Republic of Korea.
During the seminar, Wang demonstrated the innovative technologies used in China's blind massage sector, promoted the culture of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) and introduced the achievements in the development of China's disability affairs.
The China Disabled Persons' Federation has attached great importance to the election. Wang's nomination represents his own professional competence and leadership and reflects China's achievements in caring for people with disabilities, according to the federation.
Moreover, it has opened up broader prospects for promoting the international dissemination of TCM culture and deepening international and regional cooperation in benefiting people with disabilities.
Wang stated that China has provided policy support and protected the rights of visually impaired people to train their skills and help them find work.
"I will fulfill my duties as the chairman, promote the development of the blind massage industry in the Asia-Pacific region and facilitate technical exchanges and talent cultivation," he added.
