Gaëtan Michel Siew Hew Sam, Mauritian ambassador-designate to China, led a three-member team to visit the China Rehabilitation Research Center (CRRC) on Nov 13.
Mi Zhongxiang, deputy director of the CRRC, received the guests and outlined the facility's profile and key strengths.

Mi noted that the center, established with support from several foreign governments, has a long-standing tradition of international exchanges.
Over its 37-year history, it has hosted visiting groups that included heads of state and carried out talent training and research cooperation with partners in Japan, Canada, the US, Norway, Germany and other countries, Mi said.
The center has participated in and organized international conferences on rehabilitation and undertaken foreign aid training programs funded by China's Ministry of Commerce, according to Mi.
Mi said these efforts have played an important role in advancing China's rehabilitation medicine and enhancing the sector's global engagement.
He added that the CRRC would take the visit as an opportunity to establish regular communication with Mauritius and explore practical cooperation.
Gaëtan Michel Siew Hew Sam spoke highly of the CRRC's professional capacity, outstanding achievements and international outreach in the field of rehabilitation medicine.
He highlighted the CRRC's one-stop service model as an experience worth learning from.
The Mauritian embassy in China, he said, would encourage Mauritian nationals living in the country to seek medical services at the center and would maintain close communication to facilitate the signing of a memorandum of understanding between various Mauritian authorities and the CRRC.
Such an agreement would lay the groundwork for practical cooperation in areas including rehabilitation personnel training and hospital management, contributing to the advancement of rehabilitation services in both countries, he noted.
