Xia Baolong, vice-chairman and secretary-general of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, met with overseas delegates to the International Symposium on Cross-religious Communication and Construction of a Community with a Shared Future for Humankind on Dec 11, 2019 in Beijing. The symposium was organized by the China Committee on Religion and Peace.

Xia said he hopes the delegates will use their power of influence to enhance exchanges of various cultures and play active roles in promoting and safeguarding world peace by improving understanding, solving conflicts, protecting the environment, promoting green development and building a harmonious world. The CPPCC National Committee supports the CCRP in deepening friendly cooperation and exchanges with the World Conference on Religion and Peace and the Asian Conference on Religion and Peace (ACRP).

Desmond Cahill, executive vice-chairman of the ACRP and president of Religions for Peace Australia, said he is willing to contribute his efforts to safeguarding world peace and promoting common development.
