On March 3, Wang Yongqing, vice-chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, presided over a symposium on the social impact of the novel coronavirus outbreak.
Members of the Committee for Social and Legal Affairs of the CPPCC National Committee and CPPCC members from other groups participated in the discussion.
The attendees agreed that the effort to contain the virus is producing results and the country is getting back to normal. The progress being made once again demonstrates the strengths of socialism with Chinese characteristics and the fact that China is a responsible major power.
They said they will closely follow the action plans released by the Communist Party of China Central Committee in performing their duties to win the fight against the viral disease. They agreed that preemptive measures must be taken to deal with the potential impact of the epidemic on society.
Wang urged the participants to maintain their confidence in winning the battle, which has reached a crucial juncture.
He asked members of the CPPCC National Committee to align their daily work with the course of action taken by the Party to contain the virus by, for example, helping to get related policies across to the public.
Workable plans must be put in place to cope with potential risks, Wang added.
