BEIJING-- China's top political advisor Wang Yang on April 13 called for resolute efforts to minimize the impact of the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) outbreak, and ensure high-quality results for the nation's poverty reduction campaign.
Wang, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and chairman of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference National Committee, made the remarks at a teleconference to county-level Party chiefs on poverty alleviation.
Noting the county-level Party chiefs serve as "frontline commanders" in the fight against poverty, Wang stressed implementing regular epidemic prevention and control measures and fully advancing work resumption.
Wang demanded the officials redouble their efforts in solving practical problems emerging amid the poverty alleviation campaign and resolutely avoid formalism and bureaucratism.
Wang also required efforts to help people in poverty find jobs, calling for encouraging consumption to promote poverty reduction.
