General Situation

The Grand Union of Innovation High-tech Park is a hub of scientific and technological innovation, next to the University of Science and Technology of China (USTC) High-tech Park. It occupies an area of about 73 hectares and plans to construct buildings that will have a total floor space of about 1.5 million square meters. The park aims to create a regional industrial innovation ecosystem and a collaborative innovation environment by enhancing the functions of new-type research and development institutions – such as the USTC's Institute of Advanced Technology and the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) Innovation Institute – and to foster alumni entrepreneurship.

The park has a "tree-planting project" for scientific and technological innovation, which revolves around the original innovation platforms such as the USTC High-tech Park and the Hefei National Laboratory for Physical Sciences at the Microscale. It will develop the USTC Institute of Advanced Technology and the CAS Innovation Institute into national demonstration platforms for achievement transformations. It will also build the China Speech Valley Incubation Zone into a nationally influential industrial incubation platform in the field of artificial intelligence. Moreover, it will accelerate the construction of the High-tech Incubation Park and the Quantum Information Future Industry Technology Park – to provide one-stop entrepreneurship incubation services for USTC teachers, students and alumni.

The park has gathered various scientific and technological innovation resources, including more than 100 USTC alumni enterprises – among them, iFlytek, Guochuang Software and QuantumCTek. It also has high-level resource innovation platforms – including the USTC High-tech Park, the Hefei National Laboratory for Physical Sciences at the Microscale, the Institute of Artificial Intelligence and IDATA. Surrounding the park are nearly 4.3 million sq m of incubation carriers – such as the Big Data Industrial Park – as well as 10 national-level mass innovation spaces and incubators. The existing innovation and entrepreneurship carriers have a floor space of about 600,000 sq m and the remaining floor space under construction is about 900,000 sq m.
