As summer is drawing to an end and the weather becomes much cooler, it's time to go outside to explore nature. Here are some recommendations in Wuxi, East China's Jiangsu province.

Hiking enthusiasts in the city are well acquainted with the Guanzhang Ancient Footpath which winds over the three Guanzhang mountains for 2.5 kilometers.

The ancient footpath connects several scenic spots in Wuxi, such as Taihu Lake and the Lingshan Grand Buddha, an 88-meter-tall bronze statue of Sakyamuni.

Houshan Mountain Forest Park is free to enter. As the name suggests, the park is built based on the 100-meter-high Houshan Mountain. It usually just takes about 20 minutes to climb up to the peak and the mountain road is shaded by wide spreading branches and luxuriant foliage. Luckily enough, one can encounter butterflies fluttering among flowers and birds flying over the towers.

Doushan Mountain features tea gardens on rolling mountains, unique farmsteads for entertainment, and fruit and vegetable producing bases. There is also a rainbow footpath meandering through the mountain.

Junzhang Ancient Footpath spans about 20 km and preserves its simple and rustic features. With relatively low-set mountains, dense forest, and a zigzagging road, the footpath has been favored by hiking enthusiasts.
