The tourism industry prospered in Wuxi, East China's Jiangsu province, during the eight-day combined Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day holiday, local media reported.

The city received more than 11 million tourists and generated nearly 11.64 billion yuan ($1.61 billion) in tourism revenue over the long holiday break.

Wuxi authorities rolled out 242 festive activities, 90 art performances, and 30 boutique tourism routes to create a strong festive atmosphere. For example, the Lingshan Mountain scenic area arranged 10 special activities per day while the Wuxi CCTV Film and Television Base offered 50 performances each day.

Intangible cultural heritage was the theme of the eight-day holiday in Wuxi. More than 100 exhibitions and performances about the city's intangible cultural heritage were staged. The 2023 China Grand Canal Intangible Cultural Heritage Tourism Conference and Huishan Clay Figurine Cultural Art Festival attracted more than 100,000 onsite tourists and 500,000 viewers online.

Some Wuxi residents spent their holidays in the countryside camping and barbequing, enjoying cooking a meal in the open air, picking fruits, or appreciating autumn scenery.
