The Romanesque bell tower located next to the Chongan Temple in downtown Wuxi, East China's Jiangsu province, has reopened to the public after being given a remarkable facelift.

In 1912, a group of prominent individuals in the area established the Wuxi County Public Library, with the main building being the old bell tower. The tower became a landmark of the city, symbolizing Wuxi's cultural identity. As a cultural icon, the ancient bell tower has witnessed the historical changes that have taken place in the city.

On the ground floor, a cultural exhibition on urban development is currently being held. Its imagery leads visitors on a journey to discover those "missed but existing Wuxi scenes."

With five main sections showcasing city walls, roads, bridges, buildings, and historical garden sites, the photos vividly bring old Wuxi to life.

A special exhibition area called "Wuxi Cultural Heritage," showcases local history, literature, and works by famous Wuxi-born authors like Qian Mu, Qian Zhongshu, Yang Jiang, and Xu Zhuoyun. It allows people to explore the essence of Wuxi.

During its trial operation period, it will be open from 9 am to 5 pm every Wednesday and Sunday.
