Attractions in Wuxi, Jiangsu province, welcomed more than 11.56 million tourists during the eight-day Spring Festival holiday, which ended on Feb 17, doubling the figure from the previous year.

The city generated nearly 12.58 billion yuan ($1.74 billion) in tourism revenue during the same period.

Wuxi enticed visitors with a variety of activities, delicious food, profound culture, efficient service, and hospitality.

Yuantouzhu scenic area organized stilt walker parades and an orchid exhibition, Plum Garden entertained tourists with dragon dances, calligraphy exhibitions, and tea, while Wuxi Sunac Resort arranged float parades, bonfire parties, as well as over 20 art shows.

Riding the just-opened subway line S1 to Jiangyin, a county-level city administered by Wuxi, became a popular choice for locals for a Spring Festival outing.

Cultural facilities in the city also planned various events, such as paper cutting, paper folding, and rubbing at the Wuxi Museum, a free book giveaway at Wuxi Library, and scavenger hunts for the Chinese character "福" at the former residence of Qian Zhongshu. Art troupes in the city put on over 100 performances involving operas, concerts, and talkshows.
