The second "Guoyun Cup" Chinese Traditional Musical Instruments Performances opened at the Wuxi Great Hall of the People on July 15.

The opening ceremony commenced with a piece of festive orchestral music titled Festival Overture and was followed by classic music by players of Chinese traditional musical instruments, including erhu, banhu (bowed Chinese fiddle), and zhongruan (a lute-like traditional Chinese instrument), who came from around the country.

The final trials of the stringed instrument group began at the N1955 Culture and Creative Industrial Park on July 15 and will last until 19, offering up an audio-visual feast.

Representative players, teachers, composers, and conductors of traditional Chinese instruments served as the judges of the event, which attracted nearly 5,000 traditional Chinese instrument players, including both professionals and amateurs.

During the event, the organizing committee also organized lectures by renowned Chinese instrument players at the Former Residence of Ah Bing, China's most famous erhu player, and the site of the Wuxi Chinese Orchestra.

The event was sponsored by the China Nationalities Orchestra Society and organized by the Liangxi district government and Wuxi municipal bureau of culture, broadcasting and tourism.

The final trials of other groups will take place in Ningbo, Zhejiang province, from July 20 to 25.
