Spread Traditional Chinese Culture from a Marxist Standpoint*

March 22, 2021

During my inspection tour in Shandong, I made a special trip to the Confucius Temple and his family mansion in Qufu. Now I have arrived in Wuyishan City, and I must therefore come and visit the park commemorating Zhu Xi.

As we have opted for the path of socialism with Chinese characteristics, we must adapt Marxism to the Chinese context. If there were no 5,000-year Chinese civilization, how could we build anything with what we describe today as “Chinese characteristics”? And if it were not for these characteristics, how could we have successfully embarked on the path to “socialism with Chinese characteristics”?

That is why we should value the cream of our civilization, and explore its depths. We should carry forward the best of traditional Chinese culture from a Marxist standpoint and with a Marxist viewpoint and methodology, and stick to the path of Chinese socialism.
