Shanxi University (SXU) recently signed an agreement for the joint training of doctoral students with James Cook University in Australia and undertook an academic cooperation memorandum and exchange visit agreement with Toyo University in Japan.

The signing of the two agreements was another example of SXU's moves toward more cooperation with universities abroad.

It has created a new platform for international cooperation and exchanges between teachers and students and further improved the university's international reputation and influence.

James Cook University, based in North Queensland, is one of Australia's top national research universities and a member of the Association of Commonwealth Universities. The university ranks between 201-250 in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings and currently has 11,882 registered students, including international students from more than 60 countries, with the international students accounting for 12 percent of the total.

Japan Toyo University in Tokyo is a private university established in 1887 and is a member of the Top Global University project and University-Based Institutes for Advanced Study. The university ranked 64th in the Times Higher Education Japan University Rankings of 2020. It has 46 undergraduate majors and 15 postgraduate schools. In 2019, the number of applicants for the university reached 122,010, ranking it second among universities in Japan.

SXU teachers and students who are interested in the two universities can apply for their international cooperation and exchange programs according to their own needs.
