Xiamen Xiang'an International Airport will officially begin operations by the end of this year, taking over all passenger and cargo services from Xiamen Gaoqi International Airport. The airport's southern cargo area will be inaugurated at the same time.
The southern cargo area comprises facilities such as the Iport Cargo Station, Air Road Cargo Station, Iport aviation service facilities for express parcels, cross-border e-commerce goods support, and the international cargo and mail inspection center. It covers a total area of approximately 510,000 square meters. In its initial phase, it is planned to handle an annual cargo and mail throughput of 750,000 metric tons.
The cargo apron contains 22 freighter stands, with an adjacent staging area for temporary storage of outbound goods, making terminal operations more efficient.
About 30,000 sq m of the southern cargo area are designated for express parcels including cross‑border e‑commerce items. In this zone, companies can handle their own palletizing and processing independently.

A new 11.3-meter-high automated high bay warehouse has been built, offering 1,480 standard storage slots with a total capacity of 1,480 tons. It uses nine four way shuttles and four lifts working in tandem to achieve high density, three dimensional, automated storage in a compact space, effectively serving as a fully automated mini sorting center.
For airside transfers, cargo can be quickly connected to the next flight upon arrival without detouring through the cargo terminal, reducing operating costs for businesses.
