A Boeing aircraft from overseas recently entered the maintenance hangar of HAECO Xiamen for a full-scale overhaul. This marks the 116th overseas aircraft to arrive in Xiamen for maintenance so far this year, and the 4,001st since the city began offering aviation repair services in 1996 — the highest volume of any city in China.
In 1993, HAECO Group — a subsidiary of Swire Group — established HAECO Xiamen at Xiamen Gaoqi International Airport, becoming the first aviation maintenance provider to set up operations in the city. The company began servicing overseas aircraft in 1996 and quickly grew into an industry leader.
Its presence has since attracted a host of other internationally renowned aviation maintenance firms to Xiamen, including Honeywell and ST Engineering Aerospace, as part of a growing local supply chain.

Xiamen has evolved into a full‑spectrum aviation maintenance hub, covering major airframe overhauls, passenger‑to‑freighter conversions, business jet completion, engine and landing gear maintenance, avionics repair, component manufacturing and repair, and technical training — all under one roof. As a globally recognized one‑stop center for aircraft maintenance, it has held the top spot in China for overseas repair services for many years running.
