Lao delegation visits Xiamen

A Lao delegation led by Minister to Prime Minister's Office Alounkeo Kittikhoun paid a visit to Xiamen, Fujian province from Nov 27-29.

On Nov 27, the delegation was warmly received by Lu Jiang, vice mayor of Xiamen, who briefed the guests on the social and economic development in Xiamen. In September, Chinese President Xi Jinping, delivered a speech in which he praised Xiamen as a beautiful garden city with perfect harmony between man and nature and spoke highly of its innovation and entrepreneurship, according to Lu.

Lu said the success of the BRICS Summit in Xiamen has helped boost the profile of the city on the international stage and offers new development opportunities for the city. Lu also expressed her wish to strengthen the exchanges, friendship, and economic and trade cooperation with Laos.

Laos and China enjoy a long history of friendship and the two sides have conducted frequent exchanges of high-level visits, according to Alounkeo. He said Laos can learn from China its successful experience in developing socialism with Chinese characteristics. Designated as one of the earliest special economic zones in China, Xiamen has witnessed remarkable achievements in its economic development and urban construction. He agreed with Lu to strengthen exchanges and cooperation with Xiamen and Fujian province.

During their stay in Xiamen, the delegates visited the Xiamen International Conference and Exhibition Center, Xiamen University, Xiamen Gulong Canned Food Co, and Gulangyu Island.

At the Xiamen Gulong Canned Food Co, the delegates were introduced to the processing procedures to canned food and the Chinese soy bean sauce culture.
