Xiamen, Australia to strengthen educational cooperation

Two Australian diplomats in China paid a visit to the coastal city of Xiamen in Fujian province recently to discuss educational cooperation between China and Australia.

Katherine Vickers, minister-counselor in charge of education and research at the Australian Embassy in China, held talks with Lin Jinhui, head of the Center of Research on Chinese-Foreign Cooperation in Running Schools at the Xiamen University.

They discussed issues related to promoting cooperation and jointly running higher education institutions, and higher vocational colleges, in areas such as policy research, teacher-student communication and curriculum provision.

Katherine also visited the international exchange center at the Xiamen University and talked about cooperation opportunity between the prestigious university in Fujian province and universities in Australia.

The diplomat also paid a visit to Xiamen City University where she exchanged ideas with the president on educational cooperation concerning the university's high-quality disciplines such as Aircraft Maintenance.

On Nov 30, Fiona Cochaud, deputy consul-general at the Australian Consulate General in Guangzhou, paid a visit to Xiamen University, where she met with personnel at the center for Australia Studies and discussed issues related to the academic exchange in key disciplines of Economics and Finance.
