A delegation from Mokpo, a port city in South Jeolla Province, the Republic of Korea, headed by the director of the local employment policy department, visited Xiamen from June 12 to 15 to promote its economic cooperation with the Chinese city.
Xiamen values the friendly relations it has with its sister city Mokpo, Li Xiaoping, director of Xiamen's Foreign and Overseas Chinese Affairs Office, said at a meeting with the ROK delegation on June 13.
Xiamen established a sister-city relationship with Mokpo on July 25, 2007 and the city boasts high quality agricultural and aquatic products.
Li said that the two cities can make full use of each other's advantages to strengthen the exchanges among both sides' companies and also bring benefits to their local residents.
Director Kim Deok-ryong believes that Xiamen has yielded fruitful results in its economic and social development and this is evident in the growth of its advanced port logistics, tourism and service industries.
Kim said that they plan to export more aquatic products to Xiamen and thus during their stay in the city, they will explore the city's aquatic product market and make preparation for the R&D of new aquatic products.
China announced and implemented on May 15 a policy allowing visa-free entry of foreign tourist groups aboard cruise ships via all cruise ship ports along the country's coastline.
China and Georgia are set to waive visa requirements for travelers starting May 28.
