Thai legislation delegation deepens cooperation with Xiamen

A delegation consisting of members of the Thai National Legislative Assembly visited Xiamen, Fujian province from Dec 15 to 18.

Chen Jiadong, chairman of the Standing Committee of the Xiamen Municipal People's Congress, detailed them on Xiamen's basic situation, the general situation of the Xiamen Municipal People's Congress and the city's efforts in helping other areas in China beat poverty during a meeting with the Thai delegation on Dec 17.

Chen particularly introduced Xiamen's poverty alleviation work, which the delegation showed an interest in.

He said that they not only offer capital support to poverty-stricken areas in China, but also introduce advanced technologies, high profile talents and projects to the areas so as to help them maintain sustainable economic development.

The head of the Thai delegation spoke highly of the beautiful scenery in Xiamen, hoping the two places will strengthen their cooperation in tourism and promising to encourage more Thai tourists to visit Xiamen.

He said that China-Thailand relations enjoy a long history and both sides have always maintained a close cooperative relationship.

He expected their relations will see further development with joint efforts from both sides.

During the Thai delegation's stay in Xiamen, they also visited Gulangyu Island, a UNESCO World Heritage site off the city's coast, Nanputuo Temple and Huaqiao University where the delegation thanked the university for its support to Thai students and officials and hopes to enhance the exchanges with Huaqiao University.
