Lee Yong Jae, parliamentary speaker of Jeollanam-do in South Korea, led a delegation to Xiamen, Fujian province on Dec 21.
His visit to Xiamen was part of his Chinese trip seeking further exchanges with Fujian.
The South Korean delegation sought cooperation opportunities with Xiamen in tourism, culture and education.
They visited the city's popular scenic spots, including renowned Gulangyu island, Xiamen University and bustling Zhongshan Road.
The Xiamen trip made clear that both sides have wider space for cooperation in the above fields and the delegation members were deeply impressed by the city's beautiful landscape and sound cultural environment.
The South Korean province of Jeollanam-do established a friendly-exchange relationship with Fujian in 2007 and in the same year its Mokpo city became a sister city of Xiamen.
China announced and implemented on May 15 a policy allowing visa-free entry of foreign tourist groups aboard cruise ships via all cruise ship ports along the country's coastline.
China and Georgia are set to waive visa requirements for travelers starting May 28.
