Turkey expects to further cooperation with Xiamen, said Emin Onen, ambassador of Turkey to China, at a meeting with Han Jingyi, deputy mayor of Xiamen, Fujian province on March 7.
The two places can strengthen their cooperation in tourism and more shipping routes between them can be launched, added Onen.
Han said that under the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative, Xiamen and Turkey enjoy tremendous cooperation potentials in trade, culture, education and tourism and he hopes the two places can deepen their cooperation in various fields.
In 2008 Xiamen University established the Confucius Institute at the Middle East Technical University of Turkey and Xiamen established sister-city relations with Izmir, the third largest city in Turkey last year.
China announced and implemented on May 15 a policy allowing visa-free entry of foreign tourist groups aboard cruise ships via all cruise ship ports along the country's coastline.
China and Georgia are set to waive visa requirements for travelers starting May 28.
