The Singapore Consulate-General in Xiamen, Fujian province, held a reception to celebrate the country's 54th National Day on Aug 2. Han Jingyi, vice-mayor of Xiamen, was in attendance.
At the reception, Han expressed his wishes for future cooperation between Singapore and Xiamen.
Consul-General Chi Chiew Sum also made a speech, affirming his commitment to the continued development of relations between Singapore and Fujian. In the future, the consulate will also promote cooperation with the province in terms of law and law enforcement.
At the upcoming 2019 China International Fair for Investment & Trade, the Singapore International Arbitration Centre and Xiamen arbitration commission will jointly organize an international arbitration forum, according to Chi.
Six hawker stalls were set up at the reception, as this year's theme was Singapore's hawker culture.
Singapore applied to UNESCO in March in a bid to add the country's hawker culture to the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
China announced and implemented on May 15 a policy allowing visa-free entry of foreign tourist groups aboard cruise ships via all cruise ship ports along the country's coastline.
China and Georgia are set to waive visa requirements for travelers starting May 28.
